Hiru Uththama Dhaathu Vandhana Continues For The Second Day; Hundreds And Thousands Of Devotees Arrive
Today is the 2nd day of the HIRU Uththama Dhaathu Vandhana programme organized for the 4th year by HIRU TV and HIRU FM in view of the Vesak Poya Day, which commemorates the birth, enlightenment and the passing away of Lord Buddha.
Hundreds of thousands of devotees are still arriving at the historical Muthiyangana Viharaya in Badulla to pay homage to the sacred Kapilawasthu relics.
The conveyance ceremony of the Kapilawasthupura sacred relics of the Lord Buddha from Sri Subhoothi Vihara in Waskaduwa to the sacred grounds of Muthiyangana took place at an auspicious time on Saturday.
Chairman of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation Mr. Rayynor Silva placed the sacred relics of Lord Buddha from Kapila-wasthu-pura in a special enclosure, amidst the chanting of hundreds of thousands of devotees.
Chairman Mr. Rayynor Silva also conducted the rituals of offering flowers, Buddha Puja and the Ashta parish-kaara Puja.
Following the religious observances, the Maha Sangha expressed their gratitude and blessings towards the Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation and the staff.
Following the Dhamma sermons of the Maha Sangha, devotees arriving from all parts of the island were able to pay homage to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha.
Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation Mr. Rayynor Silva donated two incense stick holders to Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya, and also offered the breakfast meal to the devotees in the sacred grounds of Muthiyanganaya.
HIRU Uththama Dhaathu Wandanaa will be held till tomorrow morning.

Expressing his views on the significance of the Uththama Dhathu Vandana program, Chief incumbent of Waskaduwa Sri Subhoothi Vihara Venerable Waskaduwe Mahinda Wansha Thera noted that the moment is similar to the historical moment of the Buddha’s visit to Muthiyanganaya.

Reports indicated that hundreds of thousands of devotees, lined up in a queue spanning many kilometers from the sacred grounds of Muthiyanganaya, were patiently waiting to pay their homage to the sacred Kapilawasthupura relics.
