Hiru Uttama Dhathu Vandana begins at Kataragama Kirivehera sacred site
Hiru Uttama Dhathu Vandana, the rare exposition of the Kapilavasthu Sacred relics commenced in the wee hours of this morning at the sacred grounds of Kataragama Kirivehera.
A large crowd of devotees have gathered at the sacred site to pay their homage to the sacred relics of Kapilavasthu.
The sacred relics which were placed at Waskaduwa Rajaguru Sri Subhoothi Vihara were brought to the sacred site of Kirivehera this morning.
The sacred relics are placed at the Relics Chamber of the Kirivehera, providing an opportunity for the devotees to pay homage to the sacred relics for 2 days.
The sacred relics will be brought to Pallebadda Sri Sankhapala Vihara on the 6th of this month, facilitating more devotees to witness the rare exposition of the sacred relics.
Hundreds and Thousands of devotees participated in the Hiru Shakya Sinha Vesak ceremonies held in the premises of Mahiyanganaya and Kirivehera in Kataragama during the last 2 years.
Last year’s exposition of relics held at the Mahiyangana temple drew an unprecedented crowd of devotees to the sacred site.
Meanwhile, the Hiru Shakya Sinha Vesak ceremony organized by Hiru FM and Hiru TV to mark the Vesak festival was held yesterday at the historical sacred site of Kirivehara in Kataragama, with the participation of hundreds and thousands of devotees.
Hiru TV and Hiru FM which continuously takes steps for the betterment of the Sasana, organized Hiru Shakya Sinha Vesak ceremony this year as well by giving priority to Amisa Puja – offering of materials and Prathipatti Puja – offering by practicing Dhamma.
Thousands of devotees who gathered at the sacred site participated in several religious activities including Sil campaigns, meditation programmes and Dhamma discussions.
In addition, as per the concept of Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation Network Mr. Rayynor Silva, the Hiru festival of lights which illuminated the Kiri Vehera Stupa and the lighting of One hundred thousand oil lamps took place last evening amidst thousands of devotees.
After commencing this religious event Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation Network Mr. Rayynor Silva also donated a Buddha statue to the Kirivehera Stupa.
The Kirivehera Stupa was illuminated thereafter.
